Our Story

peterlandingpage image squareMy name is Peter Colten.  My wife Jana & I operate four assisted living homes in North Scottsdale, Arizona.

In 1997 Jana was working for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, providing in-home social services to the elderly. She was seeing a lot of patients in adult care homes, and to be honest, wasn’t overly impressed with the level of care these people were receiving. The assisted living home concept was great, but there just never seemed to be any life to these places; just a lot of residents sitting around staring at the walls. Our grandparents were all in nursing homes and we always left visits with them feeling sad & depressed. We thought we could make a difference, so in Spring 1998, we opened our first assisted living home.

Our philosophy is simple: what is best for our residents is always our primary consideration. We strive to create environments where our residents always feel happy & loved and where their families can have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is well cared for.

We are always working to improve our residents’ quality of care and quality of life. We always give our residents significant input into all of our menus and our activity programs all focus on the specific needs, wishes and wants of our residents.

We celebrate everyone’s birthday as well as all of the holidays. We encourage decorating resident’s rooms with their favorite colors and furniture, artwork and pictures of the people that matter most in their lives and we want families and friends to come and visit whenever and as often as they can. In other words, we want our families to feel like they’re at home in our home.

So when the time is right for your family, please contact us to plan a visit. We would love to show you around!
